Lisa Contucci and Clifton Wright: Time Spaghetti, presents newly commissioned paintings and drawings in a two-person exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery. The two artists’ conversations with the history of art overlap and entangle, dancing back-and-forth through time. Although each have distinct practices, they share a fascination with detail, capturing elements from Dulwich Picture Gallery’s collection and architecture, together with expeditions to Venice and Rome, that are combined and re-formed in unexpected ways. Elsewhere, in the collection galleries, the work of artist-illustrator Stanley Galton will be displayed alongside paintings he has re-interpreted. Galton’s sincerely fun drawings distil historical narratives to their core elements.
