Mawuena Kattah: Ceramics, Textiles and Works on Paper. Friday 11th November 6.30 – 8.30pm, Victoria and Albert Museum. Display of artworks, film screening and Artists’ book reading.
This evening event includes an ‘in conversation’ with artist Mawuena Kattah and ceramicists Carol McNicoll and Matthew Raw. A new film will be screened for the first time, documenting Kattah’s working process, including the production of her 48-tiled frieze as part of her placement in the V&A Museum ceramics studio. The limited edition Artists’ book includes full colour illustrations and a foreword by British Ceramicist Carol McNicoll. Mawuena Kattah New Ceramic Works
Mawuena Kattah has completed a large scale, hand painted ceramic tile frieze working at the V&A ceramics studios. She will exhibit a new body of work at Tenderbooks in the summer of 2016, including a series of painted ceramic vases, printed fabrics, limited edition prints and works on paper. The ceramic tile frieze marries imagery Kattah has drawn from photographs of family and African batik fabrics gathered in Brixton Market.
