Biography

Mawuena Kattah has exhibited in a range of contemporary art galleries and museums including Whitechapel Gallery (2009), Tate Modern ‘No Soul For Sale’ (2010), Studio Voltaire (2012/2008/2007) and MAD Musée, Belgium (2011). Over a number of years, she has developed a significant body of work derived from photographs of her close and extended family and friends from Ghana. Using photographs spanning a number of decades she captures these images in her paintings. Primary research and field trips are a key inspiration to her work, ranging from personal material through to visits to major museum collections.
