Kevin Jacobs

Kevin Jacob’s paintings and drawings of Vesuvius, the Thames Estuary, Victorian waterways and tunnels develop into dreamlike or nightmarish landscapes inhabited by heroes and villains from ancient myth, legend and the occult. His large-scale landscape paintings take inspiration from Ansel Adams’ early colour photographs of the American West, his waterscapes from a range of historical and contemporary photographers depicting the Thames River and Estuary. His series of narrative paintings explore themes of war and conflict from the 19th and 20th Century and paintings from his photographs of his immediate surroundings reveal his own history living in South London.

Since joining the Intoart studio in 2010, Kevin Jacobs has developed a large number of paintings and drawings in a wide range of medium and also applied his distinctive draftsmanship to textiles and ceramics.
